Our Mission

We believe great design enhances our lives.

We design buildings which address their primary need, through a simple concept, and aim to culminate in a building which is inspiring, honest, thought provoking and also beautiful.

Weatherhead Architecture is a bespoke practice located within the London Borough of Bexley, creating inspiring sustainable designs within the residential, education and healthcare sectors.

What we believe

Weatherhead Architecture believes in the power of design, and how well crafted, thought provoking buildings can have a positive impact on our lives. We start by understanding the need. Even a very complex project can have a very simple need and we understand that sometimes needs evolve through a projects life. We believe in a process that revolves around listening. Architecture should provide a physical response that fits inherently with the unique needs of the project. The relationship built between the client and Architect is very important to us. We want to create a building that will surpass expectations and become a place that is loved. We design buildings that respect the surroundings in which they are placed. We believe that architecture and nature can be stronger together with the right thought and respect.

We design buildings that respect the surroundings in which they are placed. We believe that architecture and nature can be stronger together with the right thought and respect. We always look to innovate on each project. This can manifested itself through materiality or by integrated technology. We believe a building should reflect the time in which it has been designed for, yet respect historical references and tradition. We design buildings that express themselves through their function. We believe there is a splendour to contrasting elements and always aim to provide elements of surprise and delight within the buildings journey. We believe in the honesty of a building. We aim to celebrate structure as a positive element. We look to find creative ways to achieve our design approach through challenging standard approaches with the aim of creating a more considered, integrated building. Our design process is iterative. We believe a design should evolve throughout the project and result in a building which fits inherently with the unique needs of the project.

What we do

Weatherhead Architecture provides full architectural design service, including visualisations, for a wide range of project types and sizes.

Small Projects

We offer full architectural design service for a variety of smaller projects.

We believe that architecture is a personal experience and one which should celebrate excellence in detailing. We also believe that a home is the centre in which our lives revolve. We believe that a beautifully designed home can enhance our lives.

We aim to produce architectural solutions that address their primary need and result in physical form that is elegant and inherently unique to the client.

Medium scale projects

We provide a full architectural service for a limited range of medium scale residential projects.

We believe that residential developments are key to the future of our growing cities. We believe that they should be places of delight and integrate with nature. We believe that every apartment should be designed with the same basic goal of maximising daylight and minimising wasted space.

Large scale projects

We can offer design consultancy service for healthcare as well as education buildings. Having worked on many large scale PFI aswell as BSF schemes, we can offer a high level strategic design advisory role throughout the project duration.

Our Process

A sketch book is used for each project, and runs throughout the project duration. Sketching is the easiest and most effective form of communication of ideas.

Each project is modelled in ArchiCAD, even at the earliest stage of design. This software is versatile and eliminates the need for a secondary modelling software, which benefits the design and project delivery process.

Each project is fully BIM integrated. The skills learnt modelling large hospital projects provide a unique understanding of complicated project requirements. The move towards a open BIM will see some benefits in coming projects.

The same model is used for visualisations, minimising abortive work. Artlantis software is mixed with Adobe photoshop for visualisations.

Physical Models are an essential part of the design process. I have started using 3d printed models and find these effective at important stages of the project.

Flash is used for presentations and concept studies, converted to HTML5.
